NORFOLK, Va. - For the first time in program history, Old Dominion Football will host a Thursday game as the Monarchs welcome Georgia Southern on Thursday, Oct. 24 for a 7 p.m. contest.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 and on ESPN Radio 94.1.
• ODU defeated Georgia Southern last season in Statesboro for the first win in program history over the Eagles as Ethan Sanchez kicked a field goal as time expired for a 20-17 ODU victory.
• For the first time since October 15, 2022, ODU won a game by more than one score. The Monarchs defeated Texas State 24-14 last Saturday to snap a string of eight-straight one-score victories. The last two-score win for ODU prior to Saturday was a 49-21 win at Coastal Carolina.
• Quarterback Colton Joseph rushed for 111 yards and three touchdowns and completed 15-of-28 passes for 130 yards. The 100-yard rushing game was the first for Joseph and first by a Monarch this season.
• Running back Aaron Young had nine carries for 56 yards, including a season-long 20-yarder.
• Safety Jahron Manning had a career-high 14 tackles and leads ODU with 63 tackles.
• Georgia Southern defeated James Madison 28-14 last Saturday to move to 5-2 on the year. Running back Jalen White rushed for 134 yards, while quarterback JC French passed for 215 yards and three touchdowns.
Joseph Starts
Quarterback Colton Joseph made his third-straight start in the win over Texas State.
Joseph notched his first career 100-yard rushing game wit 111 yards on 16 carries and three touchdowns. He’s the first ODU QB since DJ Mack in 2011 to rush for three touchdowns in a game.
Joseph has rushed for 65+ yards in four-straight games and his total has improved each game.

Young Returns
After missing the game at Georgia State the week before, Aaron Young had nine carries for 56 yards, including a season-long 20-yard run. He also had a key three-yard run on fourth and two that preceded Colton Joseph’s game-clinching 28-yard touchdown run.
Red Zone Defense
The ODU defense has allowed 26 red zone possessions and has allowed points on 19 of those possessions, a Sun Belt best 71 percent of the time. The Monarchs have allowed 13 touchdowns and six field goals.

Career Days
Along with Jahron Manning, linebacker Jahleel Culbreath and safety Mario Easterly each had career-highs in tackles. Culbreath notched nine tackles, while Easterly, in his second career start, made eight stops.
Sophomore Gets Comfortable
Linebacker Mario Thompson leads ODU with four tackles and 9.5 tackles for loss in his second season with the Monarchs.
He is second in the Sun Belt in sacks and second in tackles for loss.
In 2023 as a true freshman, Thompson had 42 tackles, 2.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss.
