NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men’s soccer team continues a three-match road swing on Friday as they visit UCF for a 7 p.m. Sun Belt Conference match in Orlando, Florida.
This game will have live stats and be streamed on ESPN+.
The Monarchs got a goal from Jonas Schmalbach at 69:07 to level the match last season, but the Knights got the game-winner at 81:14 to escape Norfolk with a 2-1 decision on Oct. 14, 2023.
ODU (4-5-2, 0-3-1) heads to Orlando after a hard-fought 1-0 loss at Kentucky on October 11. The Wildcats scored in the 65th minute for the eventual game-winner.
UCF (3-4-3, 1-3-0) dropped a 2-0 decision to sixth-ranked Marshall on Sunday at home and have lost three of their last four matches.

Through 11 matches, Key White leads the team in points with eight and assists with four to go with his two goals. Michael Eberle leads in goals scored with three and is second in points with seven. Timothy Ennin has two goals and two assists for six points, while William Arnesen has two goals and one assist for five points. Lewis Redding trails White in assists as he has three.
In the net, Michael Statham has three clean sheets, a save percentage of .784 and a goals against average of 1.00 through 11 starts. He is second in saves per game (3.64), and third in shutouts (3) in the Sun Belt.
The four goals in the win at George Washington were the most in a season opener since 2011 in a 6-0 win over Houston Baptist in a tournament at West Virginia.
After the UCF match, the Monarchs are on the road at Coastal Carolina on October 23. They return home on October 27 against South Carolina.
Tennant McVea takes over as head coach of the Monarchs from long-time coach Alan Dawson who retired at the end of the 2023 season. He had served on the staff for seven years, including being on the Conference USA winning staff in 2014.
Eberle was named Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week on September 17 after a pair of game-winning goals against William & Mary and previously undefeated George Mason. He is tied for fourth in the conference in game-winning goals (2).

The Knights have a 2-1 win over Georgia State in league play and have dropped decisions to then sixth-ranked Marshall (2-0), then seventh-ranked West Virginia (2-1), and then 21st-ranked James Madison (2-0).
Emmanuel Bam and Clarence Awoudor share the points lead for UCF with 10 each. Bam leads with four goals and two assists, while Awoudor has three goals and a team best four assists.
In the net, Shane Wright has started the last seven games with a .686 save percentage and a 1.57 goals against average. Juanvi Munoz started the first three games and has a .636 save percentage and a 1.33 goals against average.
