NEW ORLEANS – Old Dominion men's tennis sophomore Cosme Rolland de Ravel was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week announced by the league office on Wednesday.
Rolland de Ravel went 4-0 on the week and helped the Monarchs to their best start since 2016-17 with a pair of road wins at Wisconsin and Drake. On Friday night, he and Jakob Cadonau clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win at Wisconsin. In singles, his 6-2, 6-1 win over Zlatohlavek clinched the team win at No. 3.
At Drake on Sunday, the 33rd-ranked duo of he and Cadonau clinched the doubles point again with a 6-3 win at No. 2. His singles win on Sunday was a three-set 0-6, 6-3, 6-1 win over Matthew Clegg to put ODU up 5-0. The Monarchs are 4-0 on the season.
On the spring, Rolland de Ravel is 3-0 at No. 3 singles and 3-0 in doubles with Cadonau primarily at No. 2.
The Monarchs will host Penn on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Brown on Sunday at 10 a.m. inside the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. Sunday will be Darryl Cummings Day as the late coach will be honored in a pre-match ceremony.
