NORFOLK, VA. - The Old Dominion men's tennis team will take to the road this weekend for their first away matches of 2024 and head to the Midwest.

ODU (2-0) will visit Madison, Wisconsin on Friday night for a 6:30 p.m. EST first-serve against the Wisconsin Badgers (0-3). Last year these teams played a classic with Old Dominion taking a 4-3 win as the Monarchs won the final three singles matches in three-set victories in the first-ever meeting between the schools.

Wisconsin enters after falling to Miami (4-2), DePaul (4-3) and Notre Dame (5-2) to start the season. Michael Minsayen is 2-1 at No. 2 singles, while he and Mihailo Popovic along with the duo of Collin Beduhn and Matthew Fullerton are 2-1 in doubles through three matches.

On Sunday, the Monarchs head to Des Moines, Iowa to take on Drake in a noon EST start. The Bulldogs enter 3-0 with wins over Washburn (4-1), Northern Illinois (6-1) and William Woods (7-0) to start the season.

The Monarchs opened with a pair of 7-0 wins over Temple and Howard last weekend. Four Monarchs opened with 2-0 weekends in singles: Jakob Cadonau, Yanis Moundir, Aryan Saleh and Codie van Schalkwyk. In doubles, Moundir and Maxime Mareschal-Hay went 2-0.

"We are excited to get out first road trip under our belt. Away matches are always different and what could be better than a Friday night match," said ODU Head Coach Dominik Mueller. "We had a nail biter with Wisconsin last year and we are expecting another close match. Drake finished last year ranked one spot behind us and brought five starters back, so it will be a weekend where small margins will make the difference."
