NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men’s soccer team start a two-match week on Tuesday, Sept. 10 when they host an Interstate 64 matchup with the Tribe of William & Mary with first kick scheduled for 7 p.m.
The game will have live stats and be streamed on ESPN+.
In last year’s meeting in Williamsburg, Pierce Gallaway scored with just over 10 minutes remaining in the opening half and the Monarchs made it stand as ODU took a 1-0 win. The Monarchs kept the Tribe off the board despite being outshot 17-6 in the contest.
ODU (2-2-1) is back in action after a 1-1 draw on Friday night with UMBC. ODU (2-2-1) controlled possession for the first half and outshot the Retrievers 10-0 in the opening stanza. The Monarchs drew first on the board with just under five minutes remaining as a foul was called setting up a free kick from the left wing. Andrew Bennett hit a low line drive that found its way through everyone to put ODU on the board at 40:04 for the 1-0 lead. UMBC tied it with 22 minutes remaining for the eventual 1-1 draw.
W&M (2-2) opened CAA play on Saturday falling 1-0 to 24th-ranked Hofstra. The Pride scored in the 38th minute and was able to keep the Tribe off the board as they were outshot 18-10 in the contest
ABOUT ODU
Tennant McVea takes over as head coach of the Monarchs from long-time coach Alan Dawson who retired at the end of the 2023 season. He had served on the staff for seven years, including being on the Conference USA winning staff in 2014.
ODU leads the all-time series with W&M 25-24-9 and are 5-0-1 against the Tribe since 2014. This is the longest running series in ODU soccer history.
Through five matches, Timothy Ennin leads the Monarchs with two goals and two assists for six points. Key White has one goal and two assists for four points, with Eberle having a goal and an assist for three points. William Arnesen, Andrew Bennett and Noah Madrigal have tallied one goal apiece, while Lewis Redding has two assists to round out the scoring for ODU. Michael Statham has a .767 save percentage for the Monarchs in five starts in net with one clean sheet.
The four goals in the win at George Washington were the most in a season opener since 2011 in a 6-0 win over Houston Baptist in a tournament at West Virginia.

Through four matches, Lucas Caldas leads the team in scoring with two goals and two assists for six points. Tre Barrett is next with one goal and two assists for four points, while Sam Delgado has a goal and an assist for three points.
In the net, Cole McNally has started two matches with a .700 save percentage and a 1.28 goals against average. Ryan Eapen has started the other two matches and sports a .857 save percentage and a 0.60 goals against average.
W&M was picked 10th in the CAA and had Caldas earn a spot on the preseason All-CAA team.
