Norfolk, Va. - The Old Dominion Rowing team and head coach Brian Conley announced the teams fall schedule. The Monarchs will compete in five regattas this fall.
The team will begin their season October 6. They will race on Oak Hollow Lake in High Point, North Carolina for the High Point Rowing Festival. They will compete against Oxford Lightweights and the Ukrainian National Team (Varsity 8+ only).
“We have added a couple high profile races on our schedule this fall with being invited to the High Point Rowing Festival to face off against two international crews,” said Conley.
The next race will be October 18-20, the Monarchs will head up to Boston, Massachusetts for the Head of the Charles Regatta. This race will be on the Charles River in Boston.
Next, the team will be back at home where they will compete on October 27 for the Head of the Lafayette in Norfolk, Virginia. This race will be on the Lafayette River.
Shortly afterwards, the next fixture on the schedule will be on November 2 where the team will head to Fairfax, Virginia, to compete in the Head of the Occoquan. This race will be held in the Sandy Run Regional Park.
To finish out this fall race schedule ODU will travel to Mercer, New Jersey, to compete in the Frostbite Regatta. This race will take place on Mercer Lake, November 9.
“The schedule allows us to work on racing development with our team with a mixture of racing head race style and sprint race with the 2000m Frostbite regatta at the end for a taste of what the spring will be like. I think this schedule fits the team's needs and helps us work towards our goals of the Big 12 Championship this spring.” said Conley.
