NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women’s basketball Head Coach DeLisha Milton-Jones announced the team’s non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2024-25 season on Wednesday.
The non-conference schedule includes two programs that played in the NCAA Tournament as well as two programs that played in the inaugural Women’s Basketball Invitational Tournament. Additionally, ODU will play an exhibition game against Christopher Newport, which captured its fifth straight conference championship and reached the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament last season.
After welcoming the Captains to Chartway Arena for an exhibition game on Oct. 27, the Monarchs kick off their season with a road game at Ball State on Nov. 4 in the first round of the 2024-25 MAC-Sun Belt Challenge. MAC schools will host Sun Belt teams for the first round of the Challenge, and the Sun Belt programs will then host the second round on Feb. 8 with opponents to be determined by NET rankings.
Following its trip to Muncie, Indiana, ODU will head to Dallas, Texas for a Nov. 9 meeting with SMU before opening a four-game homestand. The team’s home opener is slated for Nov. 11 against Morgan State. The Monarchs will then host Bowie State on Nov. 15, VCU on Nov. 21 and William & Mary on Nov. 26. Old Dominion will spend its Thanksgiving at the 2024 Daytona Beach Classic with games against Ohio State on Nov. 28 and Oakland on Nov. 30.
ODU starts off December with a pair of contests against schools from the Tar Heel State. The Monarchs will make the short trip to Raleigh for a Dec. 8 game at NC State before returning to Norfolk to host East Carolina on Dec. 15. Two days later Old Dominion will be in the nation’s capital to face Howard, and the Monarchs will be back on their home court on Dec. 22 when they host Delaware.
The Monarchs are coming off a 2023-24 season that saw them reach the Sun Belt Championship Semifinals and earn a bid to the 2024 Women’s National Invitation Tournament. ODU finished 22-10 overall with a 12-6 mark in conference play as Kaye Clark was voted Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year and En’Dya Buford earned a spot on the All-Conference Third Team.
Season tickets for the 2024-25 season will go on-sale August 28th. Existing season ticket holders will have the first opportunity to renew their seats for this season, having until October 2 to make their decision. New season tickets will also be available in select locations beginning on the 28th. Mini plans and single games will be on-sale later in October.
