NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced their weekly Women’s Soccer awards on Tuesday afternoon and Old Dominion senior goalkeeper Emily Bredek was named Defensive Player of the Week.
Bredek had a big week in the nets for the Monarchs as she helped record consecutive clean sheets for ODU (3-1) as they won a pair of matches.
The senior from Huntington Beach, Calif. opened the week with a stellar performance in a 2-0 win at William & Mary. She recorded a career-high nine saves, including several point-blank stops as the Tribe peppered her with chances throughout the night.
On Sunday, she was crucial in marshaling a defense that kept UNC Wilmington off the board in a 2-0 win.
For the season, Bredek has made 14 saves with a save percentage of .824 and sporting a goals against average of 0.78.
ODU is home on Sunday night at 7 p.m. hosting LSU at the ODU Soccer Stadium.
