NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men’s tennis team announced its fall schedule on Tuesday and it contains a minimum of four events including the Atlantic Regionals.
ODU is coming off their second straight Sun Belt Conference championship as they finished with a 20-8 record in 2024. ODU advanced to its second straight NCAA Tournament where they pushed 16th-ranked South Carolina in the opening match.
“We are excited to start up a new season. With the new ITA pathway to Singles and Doubles NCAA’s, our fall structure and tournament play looks slightly different, but at the end we are looking to develop our players, work on things, and get competitive match play in. I think this schedule allows that with the highlight of hosting Regionals in October,” said ODU Head Coach Dominik Mueller.
The Monarchs will open the fall slate with the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. from September 21-29. Those who don’t participate in the All-American Championships will head to Liberty for the Liberty Hidden Duals from September 27-29.
The month of October will only see one tournament for ODU, but it’s a big one as the Monarchs will host the ITA Atlantic Regionals from October 10-14 at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. Schools from West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, District of Columbia and Virginia will converge on Norfolk for the event.
November will start for the Monarchs in Blacksburg as they’ll participate in the Virginia Tech Dynamic Duals from November 1-3.
With the NCAA moving the individual championships to the fall this year, a new qualifying system will start. From Nov. 7-10, the Monarchs could have some players in the ITA Sectional Championships in Chapel Hill, N.C. and some in the ITA Conference Masters in San Diego, Calif. over the same dates. Depending on finishes in those events will determine if ODU has anyone competing in the NCAA Individual Championships from Nov. 19-24 in Waco, Texas.
