NORFOLK, Va. – Over the last three weeks Old Dominion Athletics has announced the gameday activities for each of this year’s six home games. This begins the final week and we begin with the TowneBank Royal Rivalry game against James Madison.
Game Info
The game against the Dukes is set for Saturday, Nov. 16 with the time and ESPN network to be announced.
JMU defeated ODU last season in Harrisonburg, 30-27. The series is currently tied at two wins apiece.
Pepsi will be the game sponsor.
This game is also Port Day and Family Weekend
The Port of Virginia is an integral part of the Hampton Roads community, accounting for over 565,000 jobs across Virginia. The Port of Virginia also committed to being “Net-Zero by 2040” to help reduce the environmental impact around our community; and as recently as January 2024, became the first US East Coast port to power all it’s terminals with 100% clean energy. Family Weekend
Join us as we celebrate our communities and families for the annual Family Weekend Celebration. Special events, tailgates and activities will be available to ODU students and their families all weekend long! TowneBank Royal Rivalry
In the fall of 2022, the athletic departments at JMU and ODU announced a unique partnership with TowneBank that would amplify school pride between the universities. The TowneBank Royal Rivalry Challenge rekindles a decades-old rivalry that is steeped in tradition and memorable moments. TowneBank is a longstanding supporter of college athletics and is excited to cheer along the healthy competition for the third year of the challenge between ODU and JMU. The Towne Family has a strong alumni base on both sides of the rivalry and is excited to see who will hoist the crown for the 2024-2025 academic year.
Kaufman Mall
The exciting pregame atmosphere returns at Kaufman Mall beginning four hours prior to kickoff. The band Wonderland will perform on Kaufman Mall. Stop by Kaufman Mall to enjoy the beer garden, the top food trucks in Virginia, games, and interactive experiences in the Kids Zone.
Stop by the ODU marketing tent for giveaways and special activations from our partners and stay tuned for additional programming. The Monarch March Band, under the direction of David Enloe, will get the crowd roaring with a 15-minute performance two hours and 30 minutes prior to kickoff. Fifteen minutes later the football team will come through Kaufman Mall on their way to the stadium as fans lineup to cheer on the Monarch March to the stadium.
Hampton Roads Chapter of the Marine Corps Reserve “Toys for Tots” Program
ODU and the Hampton Roads Chapter of the Marine Corps Reserve come together for their annual Toys for Tots drive. Donations will be collected at the gates on gameday.

Season tickets are they best way to secure the best seats and are currently available starting at $200 for one of the best home schedules in program history. Season tickets are available by clicking here. Home opponents include ECU, Virginia Tech, Texas State, Georgia Southern, JMU and Marshall. Season ticket holders will have an exclusive pre-sale opportunity to add on additional single game tickets to their package on July 17. Single game tickets will go on-sale to the public on July 24.
