NORFOLK, Va. -- Six Old Dominion University student-athletes were announced on Thursday as 2023-24 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Academic All-State honorees.
Alexandra Viktorovitch and Sofia Johnson from Women’s Tennis, Jakob Cadonau from Men’s Tennis, Myah Conway from Volleyball, Zander Johnson from Men’s Swimming and Elizabeth Gildea from Sailing were the ODU recipients.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.25 GPA and be a sophomore or higher in standing. Each school in the state of Virginia can nominate up to six student-athletes.
VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia. To be eligible for the academic all-state team a student-athlete must own a 3.25 grade-point average or higher and be at least a sophomore. In total, 36 schools and 216 student-athletes were represented.
