NORFOLK, Va. – The 2024 Old Dominion Sports Hall of Fame class will be introduced on Friday, Sept. 6 at the Jeff & Billye Chernitzer Athletics Hall of Fame Dinner & Induction Ceremony.
Trey Freeman (Men’s Basketball), Christy Longacre (Field Hockey), Jonathan Plisco (Football), Evan Newton (Men’s Soccer) and Marty Bradley (Athletic Training) will be inducted into the hall of fame in a ceremony at Chartway Arena.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a complimentary cocktail reception in the lobby of Chartway Arena before moving into the arena for the 7 p.m. dinner and ceremony. The seated dinner will provide a cash bar once service begins.

This year’s hall of fame inductees earned a plethora of all-conference accolades, player of the year honorees and records, as well as a long-time employee that will be inducted into his third hall of fame.
TREY FREEMAN, Men’s Basketball - 2014-16
- Two-Time All-C-USA First team in 2015 & 2016
- Two-Time NABC First team All-District 2015 & 16
- Scored 1,429 career points (19.6 ppg) in two seasons at ODU
- ODU single season record 838 points (22.1 ppg), Third nationally in 2015-16
- ODU single season record 323 Field Goals made 2015-16
- ODU single season double figure record 37 in 2015-16
- Set C-USA single game tournament mark of 42 points vs. WKU in 2016
- 2015 C-USA Newcomer of the Year
- Helped lead ODU to NIT semi-finals in 2015 & Las Vegas 16 Title in 2016
- Only ODU guard with a triple-double (14 pts/11 rebs/10 ast.) vs. Charleston Sou. (NIT)
- First C-USA player to ever be named Player of the Week three straight weeks 2015-16
- Broke C-USA Tournament record with 109 points in 2016

JONATHAN PLISCO – Football, 2009—12/Punter
- Three-time All-American Punter 2009, 11 & 12 (12 total selections).
- Is the FCS All-time leader in punting avg. 45.1
- Led CAA & ranked 2nd nationally 2011 at 46.2/2nd nationally 44.3 in 2010
- Led National FCS 44.84 in 2011 & 45.0 in 2012
- All-CAA First team in 2012 & 2011
- CoSIDA Academic All-District III selection/ CAA All-Academic selection 2012
- Earned his degree in finance
EVAN NEWTON, Men’s Soccer 2006-10/Goalkeeper
- Owns ODU record with 254 career saves & 36 shutouts
- 2010-11 NSCAA 2nd Team All-American/ 6 shutouts/ 1.07 GAA
- Helped lead ODU to NCAA second round, beating defending champion Virginia in the first round
- Selected in first round (7th overall) in 2011 MLS Draft by Houston
- CAA All-Rookie Team
- CAA 2nd team as a Sophomore/ CAA 3rd team as a junior/1st team as a senior
- Led CAA as a junior with nine shutouts
- 0.97 GAA with 10 shutouts as a freshman
- Played professionally 12 years in the NASL & United Soccer Championship League.

Marty Bradley – Athletic Trainer 1975-2018
- ODU’s first full-time Athletic trainer
- Retired in 2018 as ODU’s Associate AD For Sports Medicine Services
- Inducted into first class of the Mid Atlantic Athletic Trainers Assoc. Hall of Fame in 2011
- Inducted in the Virginia Athletic Trainers Hall of Fame in 2015
- National Athletic Trainers Association Service Award
- National Athletic Trainers 25-year Award
- National Athletic Trainers Most Distinguished Trainer Award
- The ODU Service Recognition Award
- Served on the NATA Board of Directors (1991-97)
- Served as the NATA Vice President (1994-95)
- Member of the NATA Post Certification Graduate Education Committee (1997-02)
- Spent 22 years as the Graduate Athletic Training Program Director. He started the program at
- ODU and when the program had developed, it was one of only 14 such programs in the country.
