Women's Lacrosse Visits Virginia Tech Wednesday

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team will close out their non-conference campaign on Wednesday with a visit to Virginia Tech for a 1 p.m. match at Thompson Field.
 
The encounter will have live stats and be streamed on ACC Network Extra.
 
ODU (3-10) enters this matchup after falling 9-5 to Vanderbilt on Saturday in an American Athletic Conference contest. Emma Arnold scored twice and Lilly Siskind, Sydney Taylor along with Emma Rowland scored once apiece. The Monarchs held a 2-1 lead after one period of play, but saw the Commodores outscore them 8-3 from there.
 
Arnold leads the Monarchs in goals scored (26), points (34), free position shots (20), caused turnovers (19) and ground balls (42). Siskind is second in goals scored (23), assists (10), points (33) and free position shots (10). Taylor is third in goals scored (22), leads in assists (11), tied for second in points (33) and tied for second in free position shots (10).
 
Nationally, goalie Jenna Peccia is 18th in saves per game at 9.36.
 
Virginia Tech returns home after dropping a 13-9 decision at nationally-ranked North Carolina on Saturday. Jocelyn Torres had 12 saves in goal, while Lauren Render had a season-best four goals to lead the offensive attack.
 
Olivia Vergano leads the team in goals scored (33), second in draw controls (71) and points (40). Paige Tyson is second in goals scored (25) and third in points (29). Kayla Downey is third in goals scored (19), leads in assists (40) and points (59).
 
The last meeting between these teams was in Norfolk on April 11, 2023, with the Hokies scoring an 8-4 victory. Taylor, Gracyn Roth, Caroline Shaefer and Danielle Dundas tallied goals for the Monarchs. ODU last defeated the Hokies in 2016 by a 10-7 decision in Norfolk.
 
Old Dominion will next see action on April 20 when they visit East Carolina for a 2 p.m. matchup.
