NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University Football will host its annual Homecoming game on Saturday, Oct. 19 against Texas State this season and the James Madison game on Saturday, Nov. 16 will be Family Weekend, ODU Director of Athletics Dr. Wood Selig announced on Tuesday.
The meeting between the Monarchs and Bobcats will be the first between the two teams on the gridiron.
There will be a multitude of events throughout the Homecoming week, including the Alumni Honors Awards on Thursday, Oct. 17 and the Alumni Social and Fireworks Show at the ODU Sailing Center on Friday, Oct. 18. The time for the 2024 Homecoming game will be announced in accordance with the 12-day window in accordance with the Sun Belt's partnership with ESPN.
The Townebank Royal Rivalry game against James Madison will be Family Weekend. Monarch Family Weekend is a celebration for students and their families in their journey at ODU. ODU opens the season on the road before opening with East Carolina at Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 7.
Included in this year's home schedule is a return trip by Virginia Tech on Saturday, Sept. 14. Virginia Tech leads the all-time series 3-2, but ODU has won both meetings in Norfolk. The Monarchs stunned the No. 13 Hokies in 2018, 49-35, and ODU beat Virginia Tech 20-17 in 2022.
After three-straight road games, ODU returns home for Homecoming against Texas State.
Following the contest with the Bobcats, the Monarchs will host a Thursday night football game. On Thursday, Oct. 24, ODU will play Georgia Southern at S.B. Ballard Stadium.
ODU completes the home portion of the schedule with consecutive home games on Saturday, November 16 and 23 against James Madison and Marshall.

The season ticket renewal process has begun. Current season ticket holders can renew in multiple ways, including by calling ODU at 757-683-3375.
The early bird renewal deadline of April 10 will enter season ticket holders that renew by then into a drawing to join the team for the Monarch Walk, two (2) sideline passes, autographed football and an on-field photo with head coach Ricky Rahne. The renewal deadline is set for May 8 and the upgrade and relocation of season tickets will begin on May 15.
Season tickets for sideline seats start as low as $200.
Fans who did not have season tickets in 2023, deposits for new season tickets are on-sale now.
