Lacrosse Falls at Virginia Tech, 18-5

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Sophomore Emma Rowland scored a career-high four goals but Old Dominion University Lacrosse lost at Virginia Tech 18-5 Wednesday afternoon in Blacksburg.
 
Virginia Tech (9-6) got on the board first three minutes in on a goal from Paige Tyson and outscored Old Dominion (3-11) 7-0 in the first period.
 
The Hokies pushed their lead to 9-0 before Emma Arnold got the Monarchs on the board with her team-leading 27th goal of the season. Rowland scored her first of the day to make it 9-2 but Tech added on another for a 10-2 halftime lead.
 
Virginia Tech pushed its lead to 15-2 before Rowland got the Monarchs on the board at the end of the third period to make the score 15-3.
 
Rowland added two more tallies in the final frame, while Tech scored four times for the final 18-5 score.
 
Brynn Bowen played 45 minutes in goal in relief of Jenna Peccia, and Bowen made a career-high six saves.
 
ODU plays its final road game of the season at East Carolina on Saturday, April 20.
