Sailing Competes in DC Team Race and ODU Women's Race

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion Sailing team competed in the DC Team Race and ODU Women's Team Race on Saturday and Sunday. ODU placed fourth at the DC team race and took third in the Women's team race hosted by the Monarchs.
 
At the ODU Women's team race, Elizabeth Gildea, Megan Geith, Emma Fredaur and Gianna Dewey were all skippers and the crews were Cadence Goodnight, Lindsey Kaufmann and Allison Volk. The Monarchs finished the event with a 10-5 record. In round one, ODU defeated Navy, St. Mary's and Wisconsin. In round two, Old Dominion defeated Wisconsin, Navy and St. Mary's. In the final round the Monarchs took down Navy, Wisconsin, Penn and St. Mary's but fell to Georgetown. 
 
The DC Race featured Parker Purrington, Diogo Silva and Noyl Odom as the skippers. The crews were Asia Acosta, Ethan Tutt and Parker Younger. The team finished with a 4-4 record. In round one, ODU went 3-1 defeating, Cornell, Georgetown and George Washington. In the second and final round the Monarchs were only able to take down George Washington. 
 
ODU is back in action on Saturday and Sunday, March 9 and 10 at the Navy Women's Race in Annapolis, Maryland and the John Jackson team race in Alexandria, Virginia.
