NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's Rowing team opens its spring season on Saturday, March. 16. The Monarchs will face off against Saint Joseph's and Monmouth in Norfolk with racing beginning at 9 a.m.
Start time for races are as follows:
9:00am – V4+ - ODU vs SJU
9:15am – 2V8+ - ODU vs SJU
9:30am – V8+ - ODU vs SJU
9:45am – 2V4+ - ODU vs SJU
10:15am – 2V8+ - ODU vs Monmouth
10:30am – V8+ - ODU vs Monmouth
"The team improved from the fall and through the winter. Our times on the rowing machines show that the team has gotten faster from last year as well," said head coach Brian Conley.
"The first race always brings some nerves, but it's the excitement to finally start showing all the hard work that the athletes did the past few months. SJU is always a strong competitor right out of the gate each year and Monmouth is a new program that has already shown they are building a solid Division I program, so it is great that they are coming to Norfolk to race," said Conley.
"I know that the ODU women are hungry to get the season underway. They showed this fall that they like to race and now we are in the championship season where it is side by side racing so it comes down to who wants it more."
