FARMVILLE, Va. – The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team secured its second win in as many games defeating Longwood 11-7 on Wednesday at Elizabeth Burger Jackson Field. Sydney Taylor led the way scoring five goals for the Monarchs.

Longwood (0-3) opened the scoring at the 13:16 mark and eight minutes later jumped out to a 2-0 lead. After an ODU (2-3) timeout the Monarchs cut into the lead as Emma Arnold scored with two minutes left to play in the quarter. Emma Rowland tied the game at two with 23 seconds remaining in the quarter for the Monarchs.

The second period of play was dominated by the Monarchs in all phases. Taylor scored her first goal 36 seconds into the start of play then two minutes later Lilly Siskind netted her first goal of the day and followed it up with a second at the 10:20 mark. Taylor wasn't finished as she gave the Monarchs a four-goal cushion with 6:43 to play in the half and then completed her first half hat-trick just three minutes later. The Lancers would get a goal back with 37 seconds left in the first half of play, but ODU held a 7-3 advantage at the break.

The third quarter was a back-and-forth affair as Longwood trimmed ODU's lead to two with a pair of goals but Taylor quickly gave the Monarchs a three-goal lead with 8:42 to play in the period. The Lancers wouldn't shy away scoring another goal, but Siskind responded with a goal giving her a hat-trick. As the quarter was winding down Longwood was able to get one last goal scoring with one second remaining. The first 12 minutes of the fourth quarter were spent playing strong defense by both sides until Taylor was able to notch her fifth goal of the game with 3:48 to play. Siskind was able to put the Lancers away completely scoring her fourth goal with a minute to play as the Monarchs held on to win.
