NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion sailing team opens their season this weekend, heading to Tampa for the USF Women's Team Race on Saturday, Feb. 24 and Sunday, Feb. 25.
The Monarchs will take on teams from the College of Charleston, MIT, Jacksonville, Northwestern and the University of South Florida. The first team racing regatta of the year, each team has three boats and they compete head to head against three boats from another team. Low point scoring applies and results are tallied as wins and losses. In 2023 the Old Dominion won the USF Women's Team Race with a 14/4 record over Jacksonville, USF and Wisconsin. ODU will have seniors Elizabeth Gildea, Megan Geith and freshman Gianna Dewey at the helm with sophomores Cadence Goodnight, Lindsey Kaufmann and junior Jean Volk, respectively, crewing.
The Monarchs are back in action on Saturday, Mar. 2 and 3 at the DC Team Race in Alexandria, Virginia.
