NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion men's tennis team heads to Montgomery, Alabama this weekend for the 76th annual Blue-Gray Tournament starting on Friday.

Eight teams will compete on the men's side with every team being ranked in the top 64 of the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll released on Tuesday.

ODU (9-1), ranked 47th nationally, opens as the fifth-seed in the event and will face Princeton (8-4) at 1:30 p.m. EST on Friday. Princeton won the ECAC Championship last weekend and is ranked 31st nationally.  A win would pit the Monarchs against either No. 19 Alabama or No. 64 Rice. A loss would see the Monarchs face the loser of those two teams later on Friday.

Following the match with Princeton, the Monarchs will play doubles against either Alabama or Rice on Friday. Those singles matches will be on Saturday, followed by their third match of the event.

Princeton holds a 3-2 lead in the all-time series with the Monarchs. The last two matches were 4-3 decisions with the Tigers winning in 2020 at Princeton and ODU winning in Norfolk in 2019.

"We are honored to be invited to the oldest collegiate tennis tournament in the country. The fact that all eight teams are nationally ranked speaks for the prestige and level of the Blue-Gray. We are going to take it one match at a time. Princeton just won the ECAC tournament last weekend and will come in with a lot of confidence. We are excited for a great match and weekend," said ODU Head Coach Dominik Mueller.
