NORFOLK, Va. — The pairings for the second round of the 2023-24 MAC-SBC Basketball Challenge – a scheduling alliance between the Mid-American and Sun Belt Conferences – were announced on Monday and Old Dominion women's basketball will travel to Kent State.

The game between the Monarchs and the Golden Flashes is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center. It will mark the third meeting between the two programs.

ODU leads the all-time series 2-0. The first meeting was played on December 21, 1988 at Kent State, which resulted in a 99-74 win for the Monarchs. ODU then hosted the Golden Flashes on Dec. 16, 1989 at the Fieldhouse, defeating Kent State 89-53.

Kent State finished its 2022-23 campaign 21–11 overall and 12-6 in the MAC. The Flashes entered the MAC Championship as the No. 4 seed and opened the tournament with a 75-68 win against No. 5 seed Northern Illinois, but ultimately fell to eventual tournament champion Toledo in the semifinals, 68-58. They received a bid to the WNIT, but saw their season come to an end with an 84-56 loss at Syracuse in the opening round.

The Golden Flashes are currently 11-5 overall and 5-1 against MAC opponents. Kent State traveled to Lafayette, Louisiana on Nov. 12 for the first round of the MAC-SBC Challenge and earned a 64-55 win over the Ragin' Cajuns.
