NORFOLK, Va. – Former Old Dominion University Football right guard Leroy Thomas will represent the Monarchs in the ninth annual Trillion Tropical Bowl All-Star Game on Saturday, Jan. 20 at Municipal Stadium in Orlando, Florida at noon. The game will be broadcast nationwide on TropicalBowl.com/TV.
A former walk-on that earned a scholarship prior to the 2021 season, Thomas was a three-year starter at right guard for the Monarchs. He started 37 career games on the offensive line with 36 of them coming at right guard, while starting one game at center.
The Stafford, Virginia native helped the Monarchs to a pair of bowl games and rewrite the ODU rushing record book, being a part of the ODU single-game rushing record by a player, Blake Watson for 259 at Coastal Carolina, as a team, 358 against Hampton in 2021 and against an FBS opponent when the Monarchs rushed for 339 yards this year at Marshall.
Thomas becomes the eighth Monarch to play in the Tropical Bowl. Marcus Haynes and R'Tarriun Johnson played in last year's installment.
