NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University Football Quarterback Grant Wilson earned a pair of honors this weekend as he was named to the Davey O'Brien Award's Great 8 List and the DC Touchdown Club Washington Metro College Player of the Week.
In his second career start, Wilson completed 13-of-19 passes for 247 yards and four touchdown passes and ran for one as well in Old Dominion's 38-31 win over Louisiana on Saturday night.
Wilson's first touchdown pass of the night was his shortest, a 30-yard strike to Ahmarian Granger. He tossed a pair to Reymello Murphy, a 36-yarder to give ODU a 24-17 lead in the third quarter and eight minutes later a 61-yarder to Murphy, the longest play so far this season for the Monarchs. His fourth TD pass of the night, the eventual game-winner, was a 37-yard pass to Kelby Williams. Of his 13 completions, six went for 20 yards or longer.
A native of Arlington, Virginia, Wilson is tied for ninth in the country this season with six touchdown passes.
