NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion baseball has its first ranking of 2023 as Collegiate Baseball listed the Monarchs at No. 24 in its latest rankings, released on Monday morning.
This is ODU's first ranking since March 21 last season when the team was listed at No. 18 by Collegiate Baseball and at No. 25 by both Baseball America and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
ODU has now won six games in a row and is coming off a Sun Belt series sweep of ULM to open conference play. The Monarchs (18-2, 3-0) edged the Warhawks 5-3 in 10 innings on Friday, then earned the series win with a 13-1 final on Saturday. ODU then defeated ULM 6-2 in Sunday's series finale.
The Monarchs have four games at home this week, beginning with a 6 p.m. meeting with Liberty on Wednesday. ODU then welcomes Marshall for a Sun Belt series this Friday through Sunday at Bud Metheny Ballpark.
