NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion Rowing head coach Brian Conley announced the 2024 spring schedule on Friday.
"The spring is the exciting racing season of our sport. It is where we get to go side by side with other crews and hammer out who is the best on the given day. We train a lot of hours for only a few minutes of racing, but when you line up and put your heart and soul into it and know you trained the same way, it all is worth it. This spring we added some good challenges to the race schedule to hopefully elevate our competitiveness," said head coach Brian Conley.
"We will only be taking a select group to San Diego to race to add some motivation for the team, but also to line up against some different fast teams too. We also are racing some traditional races as well so that we can have a comparison a little to our progress from last year. The team has trained hard this year and I am looking forward to our spring season," stated Conley.
The Monarchs open the season on March 16 competing against Saint Joseph's and Monmouth in Norfolk on the Lafayette River.
ODU will then compete in the Sunshine Invitational in Sarasota, Florida at Nathan Benderson Park on March 29 and 30.
On April 5 through 7, Old Dominion will compete in the San Diego Crew Classic in San Diego, California on Mission Bay.
The Monarchs will then head to the George Washington Invitational in Washington, D.C. on the Potomac River on April 12 and 13.
The Kerr Cup will take place on April 20 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on the Schuylkill River.
ODU will wrap up its season May 12 at the American Athletic Conference Tournament in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on Melton Lake. If the Monarchs win the tournament they will qualify for the NCAA Championships held on May 31 through June 2 in Bethel, Ohio.
