NORFOLK, Va. -- Darryl Cummings, former ODU men's and women's tennis coach, passed away unexpectedly last Thursday, November 30. He served as the head coach of the Old Dominion women's tennis team for 20 years from 1992-2011, including the last 17 seasons as the head coach of both the men's and women's programs.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the ODU Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center this Saturday, December 9, at 9am-10:30am, to honor the memory of Coach Cummings where we will share stories, reminisce, and pay tribute to the lasting impact he had on ODU Tennis and the local tennis community. A social will immediately follow from 10:30am-12:30pm.
The event is open to the public, and dress is casual. No heels please as the event will be on the tennis courts.
Additionally, during the men's basketball game vs. JMU on Saturday night, there will be a moment of silence and a timeout tribute to Darryl with video/public address and members of his family on the court.
