NORFOLK, Va. – From the BIG EAST Championship to Team Canada. Danielle Husar of the Old Dominion Field Hockey team was selected to the Canadian National Team to play in the Olympic qualifiers.
"Dani is an outstanding character, a humble and a hard worker, and a smart and versatile athlete, and I'm glad her quality was recognized in her selection to Team Canada. I believe she will have a positive impact at that level as well. She was a key piece in our championship run this year," said ODU Head Coach Andrew Griffiths.
Husar started in all 20 games for the Monarchs defensive midfield. She finished the season with eight points and eight assists and helped ODU win its first BIG EAST Tournament Championship.
She joins former Monarchs goalkeeper and BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, Cam MacGillivray on Team Canada.
Griffiths stated, "I'm proud to have another Canadian National team player connected to ODU field hockey."
