NORFOLK, Va. – After a 57-53 road win at Delaware last Thursday, the Old Dominion women's basketball team has moved up to 10th in CollegeInsider.com's latest Mid-Major Top 25 poll released on Tuesday night.
This week's poll sees ODU receiving one first-place vote and 483 points. The Monarchs (8-0) were ranked 12th in the poll on Dec. 5 and were receiving votes on Nov. 28.
Old Dominion has another road test this Sunday as the Monarchs travel to Richmond to play a 9-1 VCU Rams team. Opening tip at the Siegel Center is set for 1 p.m. ODU is then back on its home court next Wednesday, Dec. 20 when the Monarchs host NC State in the Anne Donovan Classic, which is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start at Chartway Arena. The Wolfpack (10-0) is currently ranked third in the AP Poll.
ODU leapfrogs two other Sun Belt teams ranked in this week's Mid Major Poll: James Madison is right behind ODU and in 11th place with 461 points and Southern Miss is 12th with 412 points. The Dukes are off to a 7-3 start to the season while the Lady Eagles are 7-1. Also representing the conference and receiving votes with 18 points is ULM.
The women's Mid-Major Top 25 is comprised of teams from the following conferences: America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Coastal Athletic, Conference USA, Horizon, Independent, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt, West Coast and Western Athletic.
The Mid-Major Top 25 is released every Tuesday throughout the season.
