NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women's soccer standouts Ece Turkoglu and Emily Bredek were honored by the United Soccer Coaches Association with All-Southeast Region spots as announced by the association.
Turkoglu was selected to the first team, while Bredek was a second team honoree. The Southeast Region includes schools from the Southern Conference, Sun Belt Conference and the SEC.
Making an all-region team for the second straight year, Turkoglu had a fantastic season leading the Monarchs as Captain from a defensive midfield position. In her senior and last season, she was instrumental in the success of the team and incredibly scored five goals from a defensive role. She had two goals against Southern Miss, one each against Campbell, Marshall and one goal along with one assist against George Mason. She earned Sun Belt Conference Tournament MVP and All-Conference honors this season. Turkoglu was a Third Team All-Southeast Region selection in 2022 and is a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree.
Bredek had a season to remember in goal for the Monarchs ranking among the national leaders in shutouts, goals against average and save percentage throughout the season. She helped guide the Monarchs to a school-record mark of over 500 minutes to start the year without allowing a goal. On the season she finished with a goals against average of 0.519, save percentage of .836 and a school record 11 shutouts. Bredek was named to the First Team All-Sun Belt Conference squad and selected as Goalkeeper of the Year in the league. She started in 20 of 21 matches this season making 56 saves.
