NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion Sailing freshman Gianna Dewey will compete at the women's singlehanded National Championships at Tulane this Saturday and Sunday, November 11 and 12.
She finished in third at the Faye Bennett Women's Singlehanded Conference Championship on Sept. 17 and earned an at-large bid to the national championships.
ODU has qualified a sailor for the second-straight year in the fall Women's Singlehanded National Championships as Emma Friedauer competed last year. Prior to that, current ODU assistant coach Morgan Collins was the last one to qualify in 2010.
Dewey and Sailing Head Coach Mitch Brindley will depart from the Sailing Center at 10:45 a.m. Monarch Nation is welcome to send off Dewey to the national championships.
Racing is set to begin at 10 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
