NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's tennis team announced their 2024 spring schedule on Thursday with their usually challenging non-conference schedule to prepare for another run at the Sun Belt Conference title in late April.
"We are excited about the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead of us this season," said ODU Head Coach Dominic Manilla. "We have a lot of familiar faces out of conference that will give our team ample looks to develop and peak in level come the conference tournament and the NCAA's. This is a great young group, and we are excited to prove ourselves."
The season starts off with a pair of matches in Florida starting at Florida Atlantic on January 14, followed by the start of seven straight against Power Five opponents at Florida State on January 16.
The weekend of January 27-28, they will be in Ames, Iowa in the ITA Kickoff Weekend event. They'll face the host Iowa State on January 27, then either UCLA or Oklahoma State the next day.
February will begin at home as they'll face Wake Forest on February 3 at 10 a.m. and then Penn State on February 4 at 1 p.m. The next weekend they'll be back in the Midwest to face Iowa State again on February 9 and then head to Kansas on February 11.
After a bit of a break, they'll close out the month in Richmond against in-state rival VCU on February 28 at 2:30 p.m. The non-conference slate closes out on March 1 when they host Princeton at 1 p.m.
Sun Belt Conference play begins on March 9 when Marshall comes to town for a 10 a.m. match. The Monarchs then head to Southern Miss on March 16 and South Alabama on March 17, before returning home to face Texas State on March 23 and Louisiana on March 24 with both matches at 10 a.m.
ODU will then have their next three league matches on the road against Arkansas State on March 29 and ULM on March 30, before heading to James Madison for a rematch of the 2023 tournament final on April 6.
The last home weekend will be on April 12 and 13 when ODU hosts Coastal Carolina at 2p.m. on April 12 and then celebrate Senior Day on April 13 against Georgia Southern at 10 a.m. ODU will end the regular season at App State on April 20 also at 10 a.m.
The 2024 Sun Belt Conference Tournament will be held in Rome, Georgia on April 24-28.
