NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion Sailing team competed in the ACC Prelims and Oyster Bowl on Saturday and Sunday.
Old Dominion placed sixth out of nine teams at the Oyster Bowl. ODU had two teams race in the Oyster Bowl the first team of Gianna Dewey and Allison Volk placed fourth out of 18 teams Dewey and Volk took second place three times and placed in the top five six times. The second team of Olivia Gilmore and Molly Hanson placed 16 out of 18. Hanson and Gilmore's highest finish was fourth two times.
On the men's side of the Oyster Bowl ODU placed fourth out of nine teams. Blake Goodwin and Lindsey Kaufmann placed eighth out of 18 with five top five finishes and the highest being first place. The second team of Tyler Brown and Isabelle Kanach placed 11th out of 18. Brown and Kanach finished with five top five finishes and their highest was first place.
ODU had two teams compete at the ACC Prelims and as a team finished 10th out of 18 teams. The division A team featured Noyl Odom, and she raced with Asia Acosta for the first eight races and then Odom would combine with Parker Younger in races 9-14. The team combined for a ninth place finish out of 18 teams. The team finished in the top five three times with their highest finish being first place. The Division B team featured Grace Wright and Diogo Silva for races one through four and then Wright and Parker Purrington combined for races five through fourteen. The division b team finished 10 out of 18 teams finishing with four top five finishes and two first place finishes.
The Sailing team is back in action next Saturday, Oct. 14 at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship and the Nevins Trophy.
