NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion Women's Rowing team opens its fall season on Saturday at the Head of the Ohio Regatta in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The race will take place on the Allegheny River and will go for 4300 meters long.
Racing will begin at 8:50 and end around 1:30.
"We are excited to get the team started in racing this year. The Head of Ohio is a new race for many of the members of the team and gives us an opportunity to travel and race some teams we normally wouldn't see. Our team is young and this is the first race our novices will participate in and I'm expecting them to come charging down the race course like they have shown in practice," said head coach Brian Conley.
"Most of the veteran rowers are racing twice to give them as much race experience and training on a race course as possible. That experience will hopefully pay dividends in the long run as we continue our hunt for medals at the end of the season. We have made great progress this past month and putting it together on race day is what matters. This will be the first test to see us do that," said Conley.
