NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion Sailing team completed its races at the MAISA Women's Dinghy Championship and War Memorial Regatta over the weekend. The Monarchs placed fifth out of 14 teams in the MASIA Regatta and placed eighth out of 18 teams in the War Memorial Regatta.
At the War Memorial Regatta, the Division A team featured Noyl Odom for races 1-8 and 11-12, Diogo Silva races 9-10, Asia Acosta races 1, 3-6 and 11-12 and Parker Purrington for races 2 and 7-10. The team finished 11th out of 18 with their highest finish being fourth place two times. The Division B team placed fourth out of 18 teams. The team featured Purrington for all races, Silva for races 1-2 and Grace Wright for races 3-12, the team had two number one finishes and finished in the top five four more times.
The Division A team representing ODU at the MAISA Women's Dinghy Championships was Elizabeth Gildea and Candence Goodnight, the team placed fifth out of 14 teams and their highest finish was second place. The Division B team featured Megan Geith for races 1-4, Gianna Dewey for races 5-14, Allison Volk for races 1-6 and 9-14 and Geith for races 7-8. The team finished sixth out of 14 teams with their highest finish being third place.
Old Dominion sailing wrapped up their fall season over the weekend, Gianna Dewey will participate in the Women's Singlehanded national Championship Nov. 11 and 12 at Tulane.
