NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's tennis team will head to Blacksburg this weekend to participate in the three-day Virginia Tech Halloween Tournament Friday through Sunday at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
Participating in the event are East Tennessee State and Elon along with the Monarchs and Hokies. ODU opens with Virginia Tech on Friday at 10:30 a.m., then faces Elon at 2 p.m. Saturday and East Tennessee State at 10 a.m. Sunday.
"I always try to play a hidden dual at the end of the fall semester to have our new guys get a feel of what a dual match looks like in the Spring and to overall have that "test-run" for our players in a team format," said ODU Head Coach Dominik Mueller. The field is great to get us battle tested for January. Virginia Tech is always a good team, ETSU wins their conference pretty much every year and Elon competes for a title in the CAA as well on a yearly basis. We are really looking forward to a competitive and challenging weekend for our players."
The Monarchs are coming off a strong showing at the ITA Atlantic Regionals where Jakob Cadonau and Cosme Rolland De Ravel won the doubles title to qualify for the ITA Fall National Championships in San Diego, California from Nov. 1-5.
