NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's soccer team closes out the home schedule on Friday night with sixth-ranked Marshall visiting for a 7 p.m. kick.
 
The game is the final home contest for head coach Alan Dawson who is retiring at the end of the season. A pre-game ceremony honoring him will take place approximately 6:45 p.m.
 
ODU (5-4-5, 2-3-1) lost its fourth straight match on Sunday night in a 2-1 decision to Georgia Southern. Jonas Schmalbach scored 2:39 into the contest off a feed from Nicholas Alves, while Georgia Southern had two goals in a six-minute span in the second half.
 
Marshall (12-2, 5-2) has lost two in a row after falling 2-0 at Kentucky on Sunday. They started the season winning 12 in a row and saw that streak come to an end at then fifth-ranked West Virginia in a 5-2 decision on October 18.
 
ODU snapped a four-match skid to Marshall with a 2-1 win over then fourth-ranked Thundering Herd on Oct. 15, 2022 in Huntington, West Virginia. Samuel Mar Kristinsson headed in a corner kick in the 64th minute and the Monarchs held off a frantic last minute rally from Marshall.

Jonas Schmalbach leads the team in scoring with five goals and one assist for 11 points. William Arnesen has three goals and two assists for eight points, with Karan Mandair has four goals for eight points. Michael Eberle has three goals and one assist for seven points.
Michael Statham has four shutouts now and leads the Sun Belt with 57 saves ranking him 24th nationally.

Mandair has matched Ryan Condotta for most penalty kicks made in a season with his fourth against Campbell. Condotta was also 4-for-4 in 2015 and both have made all five career attempts.
 
 
ABOUT MARSHALL
Matthew Bell leads Marshall in scoring as he's tied for 11th nationally in points with 25. He's scored eight goals and has nine assists. His nine assists are tied for fifth nationally. Marco Silva is next in scoring with seven goals and two assists for 16 points.
