NEW YORK – Marlon de Bruijne and Suus Broers were named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Tuesday, announced by the conference. Broers has been named Freshman of the Week three times now this season and de Bruijne has been named Offensive player of the Week four times.
Broers and de Bruijne led ODU to a 2-0 weekend with an 8-0 win over Quinnipiac on Friday and a 3-0 win over James Madison on Sunday. Broers recorded her seventh and eighth shutouts of the season while making four saves in the win over Quinnipiac. de Bruijne scored three goals and added an assist in the wins, she scored one goal and had one assist against Quinnipiac and two goals against JMU. de Bruijne leads the BIG EAST in points (37), goals (16) and game winning goals (6).
Nicole Fredricks was named to the Weekly Honor Roll after scoring one goal and helping lead the ODU backline to two shutouts.
The Monarchs wrap up the regular season on Friday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. when they travel to UConn.
