HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Old Dominion Field Hockey team made it nine wins in a row after defeating James Madison 3-0 on Sunday, Oct. 22 at the JMU Field Hockey Complex. Marlon de Bruijne scored two goals in the win.

In the first quarter ODU outshot JMU 6-1. The Monarchs (11-5, 5-1) mad it 1-0 after Rina Tsioles flipped a pass into Jolene Ulichney who dove and slotted it in the back of the net. The second quarter was controlled by Old Dominion but only found the back of the goal one time on four shots. Tsioles got her second assist of the game when she fed de Bruijne in the box for the goal. The Monarchs took a 2-0 lead into halftime.

ODU added their final goal in the third quarter when Frederique Zandbergen found de Bruijne for her second goal of the day and 16th of the year. The Monarchs outshot the Dukes, 5-0 in the third quarter and 1-0 in the fourth quarter.

Suus Broers didn't make a save but earned her eighth shutout of the season.

"It was a strong team performance back to front. 16 shots to 1 is a reflection of that," said head coach Andrew Griffiths.

"Nicole led things from the back with Dani, and we looked very solid - spent most of the game in our attacking half. We had great ball movement at speed and created a ton of attack from both sides, looked really dangerous and could have scored more, a few bounces just went the wrong way."

"It was a solid weekend, 2 shutouts, and solid performances. We are playing well as a team at the right point of the season. Looking forward to this coming week!"

ODU wraps up the regular season on Friday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. when they travel to UConn.
