NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's rowing team is back in action this weekend at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Massachusetts.

The regatta is a limited entry race, and you must place in the top half of the event prior to qualify or get a lottery. ODU qualified last season by finishing in the top half. The regatta is the largest two day regatta fall event in the world and spectators will reach up to 150,000 people on the shores for the event.

Old Dominion will have two boats racing in the regatta. The first event is the Club 8+ which features Libby Guindon as the coxswain and her crew is Haven Habhab, Lily Baumann, Maddie Enns, Jay Weber, Kinley Zink, Sofia Bespalovoa, Sydnee Blackburn and Lucy Brennan. The second event ODU will compete in is the Club 4+, Savannah Hartlove is the coxswain with her crew being Bekah Kimman, Jinjoo Noh, Afton Stahl and Jo Copeland.

"It's exciting to be able to go back to the Charles for the second year in row with two guaranteed entries. Being able to finish in the top half of all teams is most teams primary goal as well as ours," said head coach Brian Conley. "We have been working hard on focusing on our aggressiveness and being internal with making sure we are moving our boat as fast as possible. This is going to be key because there are a lot of distractions at the Charles that can impact a crew's performance. I think the two boats we are taking are ready for the challenge and will be fun to see how they race."
