SAN MARCOS, Texas - In a battle of two of the tougher defenses in the Sun Belt Conference Women's Soccer Thursday night, the goals eventually came fast in the last 10 minutes. Unfortunately, two were for the hosts from Texas State.

Lilly Erb's shot in the 86th minute off feeds from Mya Ulloa and Zoe Junior proved to be the game winner as Texas State defeated Old Dominion 2-1 on a steamy night at Bobcat Soccer Complex.

Old Dominion (10-2-3, 5-2-1) saw its five-match unbeaten streak come to an end, while Texas State (8-5-3, 3-2-3) became the first team to score two goals in a match against ODU this season.

"Tough game and tough loss for us tonight," said ODU Head Coach Angie Hind. "Credit to Texas State they played well and threw everything at us all game."

The teams traded defensive jabs for the first 80 minutes before the Bobcats got the first break of the night as a pass in the box ricocheted off a Monarch into the goal for a 1-0 Texas State lead at 80:19.

ODU found another gear and 86 seconds later off a corner kick, the ball was sent in by Aleigha Arndt to Ashlynn Kulha who headed it into the net for the equalizer at 81:45.

"We scored a really unfortunate own goal, but I was so proud of our dig to get back into the game for the equalizer and I know our team pushed so hard to get the winner," Hind said.

Texas State responded at 85:42 when Erb took a pass outside the six-yard box and served one into the upper left corner for the lead and eventual win.

"At the end, the game was back and forth and they got the break of the ball for their second goal," Hind added. "Tough to come here and again credit to Texas State as they made the most of the home field advantage tonight."

ODU closes out the home schedule on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. against Georgia State at the ODU Soccer Complex.
