HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Old Dominion Men's Soccer team fell to James Madison 3-1 on Wednesday night.
The first half was controlled by James Madison (5-3-5, 1-2-3) as they outshot ODU 7-1. Old Dominion's one shot came from Michael Eberle five minutes into the game and it found the back of the net giving the Monarchs a 1-0 advantage. ODU's defense held on against the Duke's shots and Michael Statham made three saves on the seven shots.
The second half started fast as James Madison split Old Dominion's (5-3-5, 2-3-2) defense a minute into the second have and tied the game at one. Seven minutes later the Duke's took the lead away from ODU as Rodrigo Robles fired a shot that would end up being the game winning goal. JMU continued the pressure and added one last goal in the 62nd minute. The Monarchs would try to mount a comeback but James Madison's defense held strong and would take the final 3-1.
JMU outshot the Monarchs 17-1, Statham had six saves on the night.
ODU is back in action Sunday, Oct. 22 when they play host to Georgia Southern at 6 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex.
