NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion Field Hockey team is back in action on Friday, Oct. 13 when the team will travel to Villanova for a game starting at 3 p.m. The Monarchs will return home on Sunday, Oct. 15 for an in-state battle with the Richmond Spiders starting at 12 p.m. at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.
 
Friday's match will be streamed on Flosports and Sunday's match will be streamed on ODUSports.com.
 
ODU is coming off a 2-0 weekend and extended its win streak to five games after beating Georgetown 5-0 on Friday and Hofstra 4-1 on Sunday. Marlon de Bruijne was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after she scored three goals and had one assist over the weekend. Leading the Monarchs offensively is de Bruijne with 22 points and 10 goals. Sanci Molkenboer has 16 points and seven goals. The leader in assists is Emily Tammaro with six. Suus Broers has been steady in goal with five shutouts, 31 saves and a 1.06 goals against average. 
 
Villanova is coming off a 1-1 weekend with a 6-0 loss at #10 Liberty on Friday and a 3-2 win over Penn on Sunday. Leading Villanova offensively is Meghan Mitchell with 34 points and 14 goals. Leading the Wildcats in assists is Raina Smolij with eight. ODU and Villanova squared off last season in Norfolk which saw the Monarchs winning 4-0. Old Dominion is on a five-game win streak against the Wildcats and leads the all-time series 12-2. 
 
Richmond is coming off a 1-1 weekend with a 4-2 loss to La Salle on Friday and a 2-0 win on Sunday against Towson. Stevie Drum leads the Spiders offensively with 15 points and seven goals while Alexandria Lavelle has 14 points and leads the team with six assists. Old Dominion and Richmond met last year in Richmond when the Monarchs won 2-1. ODU leads the all-time series against the Spiders 37-4-1.
