NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion Field Hockey team is back at home this weekend at. The L.R. Hill Sports Complex when they host Queens (CLT) on Friday, Sept. 8 starting at 5 p.m. and then welcome #2 North Carolina to Norfolk on Sunday, Sept. 10 at noon. 
 
Friday's game will be streamed on Monarch Media and Sunday's game will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
ODU is coming of its first road trip of the year where the Monarchs went 1-1. On Friday, Old Dominion defeated Central Michigan 3-0 where the Monarchs outshot the Chippewas 29-0 and outnumbered them in corners 17-0. ODU started off the scoring quick as Marlon de Bruijne scored two minutes into the game. Sacha De Gier and Jolene Ulichney both added goals in the second quarter which was enough for the win. Old Dominion then fell to #4 Michigan in Ann Arbor on Sunday in overtime, 1-0. Freshman goalkeeper Suus Broers was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after her performance with seven saves. ODU is led by de Bruijne with two goals and four points while Ulichney has one goal and an assist for three points. 
 
Queens is coming off an 0-2 weekend with a loss to Davidson on Friday, 7-1 and a loss to Drexel on Sunday, 8-0. Riley Iasiello scored the only goal of the season for the Royals in the loss to Davidson. 
 
North Carolina is coming off a 2-0 weekend after defeating Penn on Friday, 4-0 and then beating #10 Princeton in overtime 2-1 on Sunday. Lisa Slinkert leads the Tarheels with three goals and six points while Charly Bruder and Ryleigh Heck have both tallied two goals. 
 
ODU played Queens for the first-time last season and defeated the Royals 8-0 in Norfolk. The Monarchs and Tarheels will tangle for the 86th time on Sunday and the first time since 2019 which was in favor to North Carolina 1-0 in Chapel Hill. UNC leads the all-time series 48-35-2.
