NEW YORK – Suus Broers of the Old Dominion Field Hockey team was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after her performance over the weekend the conference announced Tuesday.
The freshman from Urtecht, Netherlands earned her first shutout in ODU's 3-0 win over Central Michigan on Friday. Broers carried her performance into Sunday when she made seven saves against #4 Michigan despite getting the loss to the Wolverines in overtime.
Nicole Fredericks was named to the weekly Honor Roll for her performance in defense as ODU did not concede a shot or a corner to Central Michigan.
Old Dominion is back in action on Friday, Sept. 8 at 5 p.m. against Queens (CLT) at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex and will host #2 North Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 10 at noon
