NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion Sailing team is back in action this weekend as the Men's team will be competing in the Van Duyne Men's singlehanded Conference Championships and the women will compete in the Women's ACC Qualifiers.
Finn Cizewski and Sam Riley will be the two Monarchs competing in the Van Duyne Men's Championships. This race will take place at the US Merchant Academy in Kings Point, New York. The winner of the championships will advance to the national championships at Tulane. Cizewski and Riley will be competing against other racers from Christopher Newport, Georgetown, Hampton, Hobart and William Smith, Princeton, St. Mary's College of Maryland, Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy and the US Naval Academy.
The Women's ACC Qualifiers is held by St. Mary's College in St. Mary's, Maryland. This is a doublehanded women's regatta and the top nine finishers will advance to the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship at Yale, while the second nine finishers will compete in the Women's Atlantic Coast Tournament at Brown. ODU will compete against Boston College, Christopher Newport, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Hobart and William Smith, MIT, NC State, Northeastern, Roger Williams, St. Mary's, Stanford, Tulane, the US Coast Guard Academy, Kings Point, South Florida, Vermont and Wisconsin. The Monarchs last advanced in the ACC's in 2021.
