NEW YORK – Marlon de Bruijne and Suus Broers of the Old Dominion Field Hockey team were named BIG EAST Players of the Week announced by the conference on Tuesday. Broers was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the second time in as many weeks and de Bruijne tabbed her first BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week.
 
Broers helped the Monarchs to a combined shutout win over Queens on Friday while making one save. Broers would carry that over to Sunday when she would make a career high 10 saves against #2 North Carolina. 
 
The Preseason BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year carried ODU offensively over the weekend as de Bruijne would score a first half hat trick against Queens on Friday and on Sunday she added an assist to Frederique Zandbergen against #2 North Carolina. 
 
The Dutch duo is back in action when they and the Monarchs take on #10 Liberty on Friday at 3 p.m. in Lynchburg and then take on #9 Duke in Durham on Sunday starting at 1 p.m.
