The Old Dominion Field Hockey team hits the road for the first time this season when they head to Michigan to take on Central Michigan on Friday, Sept. 1 at 1 p.m. and then will travel to Ann Arbor to take on #4 Michigan on Sunday, Sept. 3 beginning at 12 p.m.
 
Friday's match will be streamed on cmuchippewas.com and Sunday's match can be watched on the B1G 10 +. 
 
The Monarchs fell to Delaware in the season opener on Sunday, 4-2. Despite the loss ODU outshot the Blue Hens 18-9 and outnumbered Delaware's corners 10-3. Old Dominion trailed 3-0 going into the fourth quarter. Marlon de Bruijne scored to get the Monarchs on the board on an assist from Frederique Zandbergen and shortly after Jolene Ulichney found Sanci Molkenboer cut the Delaware lead to just one. The Blue Hens added another goal and were able to hold off the Monarchs surge for a comeback. 
 
Central Michigan is coming off a 1-1 weekend with a 3-2 win over Colgate on Friday and then a 4-3 loss to Rider on Saturday. In the win over Colgate Amelia Lane scored twice and leads the Chippewas with four points and two goals. Colgate outshot CMU 20-9 and Rider outshot Central Michigan 21-10. 
 
The matchup between the Chippewas and Monarchs will be the first meeting between the two programs. 
 
Michigan is coming off an 0-2 weekend with a season opening loss to #1 North Carolina 3-2 and a 1-0 loss to #12 Wake Forest. The last time ODU and Michigan met was in 2012 in the first round of the NCAA tournament where Old Dominion beat the Wolverines 6-1. The all-time series is in favor of ODU 8-4. 
 
The Monarchs will return home to host Queens (CLT) on Friday, Sept. 8 and North Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 10.
