NORFOLK, Va. – Myah Conway has been named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt Team as the Sun Belt Conference announced its preseason volleyball honors on Tuesday. The Monarchs were also picked to finish fifth in the league's East Division.

The honors and coaches' poll were voted upon by the conference's 14 head coaches.

A junior from Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania, Conway became the first player in program history to be named to an All-Conference First Team after leading ODU with 368 kills (3.50 per set) and 430 points (4.10 per set) last season. She was also third on the team with 76 total blocks (eight solo) and was fourth in both digs (163) and service aces (20). Conway recorded four double-doubles during the 2022 season, scored double-digit kills 19 times, and landed on All-Tournament Teams at the Virginia Tech Invitational and ODU's Quest for the Crown.

James Madison and South Alabama were picked as the preseason favorites to win the East and West divisions, respectively. The 2022 Sun Belt regular-season and tournament champions, JMU received 13 first-place votes and 94 points. App State got the other first-place vote to place second with 70 points and Coastal Carolina was picked third in the East with 69 points. Georgia Southern edged ODU by a point to claim fourth with 55 points, followed by the Monarchs in fifth place at 54 points. Rounding out the East division are Marshall (29) and Georgia State (21).

The Jaguars garnered 10 first-place votes and 93 points to lead the West, Texas State earned three first-place votes and 77 points to take second, and Troy sits at third with 71 points. Southern Miss (51) was picked to finish fourth in the West, Louisiana (47) at sixth, Arkansas State (37) got the other first-place vote and is sixth, and ULM (16) was selected seventh.

After an intrasquad exhibition on Aug. 18 at 3 p.m., ODU opens its season by hosting the Quest for the Crown tournament on Aug. 25-26. The Monarchs begin with a 6:30 p.m. match versus VCU that Friday, then close out their opening weekend with a 6 p.m. meeting with Norfolk State on Saturday.

The 2023 Sun Belt Conference Tournament will be held at the Foley Events Center in Foley, Alabama on November 15-19. Seeding for the tournament will be determined by winning percentage against divisional foes only, with the top two seeds from each division earning automatic byes to the quarterfinal round.
