NORFOLK, Va. – With the 2023 football season about a month away and the Old Dominion Football home opener 30 days away, we wanted to prepare Monarch Nation for all of the gameday activities they can expect to see in and around Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium this season.

The 73rd Oyster Bowl will be Old Dominion's only home game in the month of October as the Monarchs take on App State on Saturday, Oct. 21. The game will also be Family Weekend and Port Day.

Sponsored by the Chesapeake based Khedive Temple of Shriners International, the Oyster Bowl was played at ODU's stadium from 1946-1995. ODU revived the Oyster Bowl in 2011 when the Monarchs defeated James Madison.
Virginia Maritime Association and The Port of Virginia® are hosting ODU's PORT DAY on Saturday, October 21 for the ODU vs. Appalachian State game! Over the years, ODU's Port Day has been a fun and engaging way to promote our port and educate the community about the importance of our maritime industry and its economic impact.
This will be App State's first visit to Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium and first time in Norfolk Since 2015. The Mountaineers lead the all-time series, 3-0.
Kaufman Mall
The exciting pregame atmosphere returns at Kaufman Mall beginning four hours prior to kickoff. The band Lucky 757, a local favorite, will take the stage when tailgating opens four hours prior to kickoff. Kaufman Mall staples, the big screen TV and Beer Garden return for the 2023 season.

The Deck returns for its second year and has expanded to being an add-on to an individual ticket. Single-game and season tickets for The Deck are on sale. The Deck is a premium hospitality area on the west concourse of S.B. Ballard Stadium. It offers a great atmosphere, top-notch amenities and the sights and sounds of gameday from the open-air premium hospitality area with complimentary catering! Limited availability.
