NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion baseball's Ben Moore has been named a Second Team Freshman All-American by Perfect Game on Thursday.

A left-handed pitcher from Frederick, Maryland, Moore finished his first year as a Monarch with a 2-1 record and a 1.88 ERA through 21 appearances and one start. Only six of the 19 runs he allowed were earned and he recorded 24 strikeouts against 12 walks in 28.2 innings pitched.

Moore picked up his first win in his collegiate debut against St. John's on Feb. 18, allowing one unearned run on two hits with one strikeout in 1.2 innings of relief. He improved to 2-0 after striking out a pair and giving up one hit on March 1 versus William & Mary. He capped off his freshman campaign with season highs of four strikeouts in 3.2 scoreless frames in a May 19 meeting with Georgia State, allowing one hit and one walk.

The honor marks the fifth straight season the Monarchs have had a Freshman All-American. Andy Garriola was a three-time selection in 2019, Chris Dengler earned the distinction in 2020, Carter Trice was tabbed five times in 2021, and Blake Morgan four times in 2022.
